Twin Lakes Reservoir, Solitude Lake and Silver Lake - Big Cottonwood Canyon

Twin Lakes Reservoir, Brighton Ski area.

The trail starts on the wheelchairaccessible boardwalk of Silver Lake. Trout swim in crystal-clear currents beneath your feet. On the other side of the lake, you will see the trailhead to Twin Lakes Reservoir. The climb might get your heart rate up, so take your time, catch your breath and enjoy the views. At Twin Lakes, take a break on one of the boulders before continuing on your loop. Leaving the lake, you will be hiking beside a wall of railroad ties, heading uphill to a service road. On the road, hike downhill and over to Solitude Lake. Hike around the lake and catch the trail heading north under the Solitude Sunrise chairlift. You may encounter fast mountain bikers in this area, so keep a watchful eye. When the trail splits, take the Silver Lake Trail.

Getting there: Park your car at Silver Lake and walk up the Brighton loop road to the Evergreen Lift. Start hiking on the service maintenance road to Twin Lakes Reservoir.
