Rosevere Point

Erin Alberty

This hike leaves from the end of the Clear Creek Campground road. Hike south from the campground. You will reach a junction with the Bull Flat trail about 3/4 mile from the trailhead. Bear left, staying on Forest Service Trail 004. At 1.3 miles, you will reach a junction labeled “Lake Creek.” A trail goes uphill to the right, but keep going straight. The trail rises steeply to the southwest alongside the creek east of Rosevere Fork. The forest provides shade, and cliff walls soar above the drainage. The trail disappears at 2.6 miles. You can turn back here or you can pick your way up deer trails and scree to the top of the drainage, about 3/4 mile away. There were many interesting flowers near the top in July, including a carpet of pink Shooting Stars on the grassy plateau above the cliffs. ATVs may be on the trails, but there is very little traffic.

Getting there: From Snowville, take exit 5 off Interstate 84 to westbound State Road 30. After 15.5 miles, you will reach State Road 42. Take S.R. 42 north 8.6 miles. It becomes Idaho State Road 81 at the (stateline). Turn west at Strevell Road. After 3.3 miles, turn south onto Clear Creek Road (51600 West). This road bends southwest after 3 miles and continues to the campground 2.7 miles after the bend.
