Delicate Arch - Arches National Park

If you were to do one Utah hike in your lifetime, this moderate trek to Delicate Arch in Arches National Park would be it. (file Photos | The Salt Lake Tribune)

If you only have a short time to see Moab or Arches National Park, the trail to Utah’s most famous natural attraction is what you want to take. From the trailhead, you will immediately see Wolfe Ranch, then a sign leading you to petroglyphs. Those features are best visited on the return. Past the petroglyphs, continue on the dirt trail. At about 1 mile, the dirt leads to slickrock and the trail steepens. It begins to level at 1.5 miles. The final few tenths of a mile are on a walking path chiseled into the slickrock. Fees • $10 per vehicle (park entrance fee)

Getting there: From the visitors center, follow the main road through the park 11.7 miles. Follow the signs that turn you east and drive another 1.2 miles to the trailhead.
