Most local Mormon leaders in Utah and active members view the LDS Church as well down the list of institutions/interest groups in terms of influence on the state Legislature, according to an internal poll. The bulk of stake presidents and active members view the hospitality/tourism industry as having the most clout, while LDS bishops say constituents wield the most influence. Active Mormons say the church has less influence on lawmakers than minorities and news media.
