A study last summer found just 10 percent of Salt Lake City's 600 miles of roads in satisfactory or better shape; only 1.6 percent are considered good. Nearly two-thirds — 64 percent — are rated poor or worse; 0.3 percent are failed outright. Roads in the best condition are shown below. Repairing the roads and reversing their decline could cost $20 million a year, nearly seven times what the city now budgets for road resurfacing.
